The Japanese yen has been extending the early Asian session downtrend against its major counterparts. At about 10:05 pm ET, the yen touched a 4-day low of 80.96 against the franc, compared to Thursday's closing value of 79.90. As of now, the yen is trading at a 1-week low of 90.48 against the US dollar, 4-day low of 133.71 versus the pound and a 2-day low of 119.63 against the euro.
