The UK government ordered local operators to stop acquiring new Huawei equipment and remove all Huawei technologies from the 5G mobile network. Otherwise, it will impose sanctions against those British companies violating the ban on the installation of Huawei kit. UK telecom companies will face fines up to $133,000 per day if they fail to comply with provisions aimed at phasing out Huawei equipment from the UK's 5G networks. Numerous attempts of the local telecom giants to bypass the law and install previously stockpiled Huawei gear in the 5G mobile network have become the reason for the introduction of such hefty fines. The reckless behavior of British telecom providers poses threat not only to ordinary users but also to the national security of the country. Given that Huawei is accused of being a subdivision of the Chinese intelligence services, its direct participation in the creation of the 5G infrastructure is no longer seen as a commercial project. For that only reason, the British telecommunication companies were not just recommended, but prohibited from purchasing Huawei equipment. The United States became the first country to stand up against the tech behemoth. US President Donald Trump personally blacklisted the company and banned American companies from cooperating with the Chinese mobile developer. Unable to resist the pressure from the US sanctions, Huawei had to sell its Honor business for $15.2 billion.
