EU to cripple Russian industry through ban on soap and toilet paper imports

Soap and toilet paper will never be exported to Europe. Overwhelmed by another burst of indignation, the EU authorities are rushing EU counties into voting for the 8th package of anti-Russian sanctions. This time, the embargo will be imposed on Russian soap and toilet paper imports. So, another market in the EU has been lost for Russian manufacturers.

Curiously, Brussels is in a hurry to approve the 8th package of punitive measures against Russia. EU lawmakers are discussing the embargo on Russian soap and toilet paper imports and are expanding the list of individuals subject to personal sanctions. According to the new draft rules, the European Commission wants to eliminate the import of merchandise considered to generate considerable income in Russia such as "beauty or make-up preparations," "shaving preparations, incl. pre-shave and aftershave products, personal deodorants," as well as soap and toilet paper. Besides, the 8th package sets out the items to be barred from exports to Russia: semiconductors components, microchips, aircraft, and "certain elements used in the jewellery industry such as stones and precious metals."

Last but not least, the EU’s blacklist has been complemented by almost 30 individuals and eight companies, including right-wing philosopher and ideologist Alexander Dugin, singer Nikolay Rastorguyev, as well as Alan Lushnikov, the largest shareholder of arms producer Kalashnikov.
