Japan's current economic assessment as well as outlook improved in August, the latest Eco Watchers' survey from the Cabinet Office showed Thursday.
The index measuring current conditions rose to 45.6 in August from 45.1 in July. The score was also above the expected level of 45.2.
Any reading above 50 indicates that the number of optimists exceeds pessimists.
Similarly, the outlook index climbed to 47.4 from 47.1 a month ago. The expected score was 46.8.
