The Argentinean government announced a 32% average increase in nationwide natural gas prices, but that could reach up to 40%. The adjustment adds to the 45% increase applied by the government in December.

According to the Argentinean Minister of Energy and Mining, Juan Jose Aranguren, natural gas prices to households will increase depending on their consumption level - 40% to families in the bottom range of consumption, 32% to those with average use and 28% to heavy users.

In Patagonia, the rates are higher - 36%, 31%, and 29%, respectively.

The announced increase includes all the elements that make up the gas bill, in another step for the Ministry of Energy to reduce subsidies.
