India's inflation rose less than expected in June, the Central Statistics Office reported Thursday.
Consumer price inflation rose to 5 percent in June from 4.87 percent in May. The rate was expected to climb to 5.29 percent. In the same period last year, inflation was 1.46 percent.
Meanwhile, food price inflation eased to 2.91 percent from 3.10 percent a month ago.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices gained only 0.58 percent in June.
