As expected, the Bank of England raised the interest rate by 25 basis points to 0.75 percent and retained asset purchase programme at GBP 435 billion at 7:00 am ET Thursday. Following the announcement, the pound advanced against its major counterparts.
The pound was trading at 0.8860 against the euro, 1.3033 against the franc, 146.13 against the yen and 1.3100 against the greenback around 7:03 am ET.
