South Korea's consumer confidence improved for the fourth month in a row in March to its highest level in six months, survey data from the Bank of Korea showed on Wednesday.

The consumer sentiment index rose to 99.8 in March from 99.5 in February. The latest reading was the highest since September, when the score was 100.

Consumers' sentiment regarding the current living standards weakened, which was offset by better expectations on the same. The corresponding indicators were at 91 and 94, respectively.

Households' confidence on future household income remained stable, while that concerning future spending rose in February . The relevant indicators were at 98 and 110, respectively.

The index measuring the households' assessment of the current domestic economic conditions was unchanged at 70 in March and the measure reflecting the view on future domestic economic conditions weakened to 79 from 80.

The expected inflation rate over the following year was 2.3 percent.

The results are based on survey responses from 2,333 households between March 12 and 19.
