At 2.00 am ET Friday, Destatis is slated to publish April retail sales data. Economists forecast Germany's retail sales to grow 0.1 percent on month after staying flat in March.
Ahead of the data, the euro dropped against its major rivals.
The euro was worth 121.26 against the yen, 0.8826 against the pound, 1.1131 against the greenback and 1.1195 against the franc as of 1:55 am ET.
