As expected, the Bank of England retained its key interest rate at 0.75 percent and quantitative easing at GBP 435 billion. The pound changed little against its major rivals following the announcement.
The pound was trading at 131.95 against the yen, 0.9116 against the euro, 1.2052 against the franc and 1.2105 against the greenback around 7:03 am ET.
