The U.S. housing starts and building permits for July are due at 8:30 am ET Friday. Ahead of the data, the greenback traded mixed against its major counterparts. While the greenback held steady against the franc and the yen, it rose against the euro. Versus the pound, it declined.
The greenback was worth 106.34 against the yen, 1.2164 against the pound, 0.9804 against the franc and 1.1075 against the euro as of 8:25 am ET.
