Statistics Canada is set to release Canada retail sales for June at 8:30 am ET Friday.
Ahead of the data, the loonie traded mixed against its major counterparts. While the loonie rose against the aussie, it fell against the greenback, the euro and the yen.
The loonie was worth 79.89 against the yen, 0.8990 against the aussie, 1.3327 against the greenback and 1.4749 against the euro as of 8:25 am ET.
