India's consumer price inflation remained broadly unchanged in August, figures from the statistics ministry showed Thursday.
Consumer prices increased 3.21 percent year-on-year in August following a 3.15 percent rise in July. In the same period last year, inflation was 3.69 percent.
Food and beverages prices climbed 2.96 percent and clothing and footwear costs gained 1.23 percent. Meanwhile, costs of fuel and light dropped 1.7 percent.
The consumer food price index advanced 2.99 percent annually after rising 2.36 percent a month ago.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices gained 0.49 percent and food prices climbed 0.91 percent.
