South Africa's manufacturing output declined for the third month in a row in August, data from Statistics South Africa showed on Thursday.
Manufacturing output declined 1.8 percent year-on-year in August, following a 0.7 percent fall in July. In June, production had decreased 3.6 percent.
The biggest negative contributions came from basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products and metal products and machinery.
On a monthly basis, manufacturing output rose 1.3 percent in August, which was faster than the 0.8 percent rise in the previous month.
