The U.S. retail sales for February are due at 8:30 am ET Tuesday. Ahead of the data, the greenback traded mixed against its major rivals. While it rose against the euro and the franc, it held steady against the pound and the yen.
The greenback was worth 1.0004 against the euro, 106.89 against the yen, 0.9589 against the franc and 1.2104 against the pound as of 8:25 am ET.
