As expected, the Bank of England held its key rate at 0.1 percent and asset purchase plan at GBP 645 billion. The pound changed little against its major rivals after the decision.
The pound was trading at 1.1966 against the greenback, 131.26 against the yen, 1.1610 against the franc and 0.9155 against the euro around 8:01 am ET.
