Malaysia's exports and imports increased in February, data from the Department of Statistics showed on Friday.

Exports rose 11.8 percent year-on-year to MYR 74.5 billion in February. Economists had expected exports to increase 5.0 percent.

Imports grew 11.3 percent to MYR 61.8 billion in February. Economists had forecast an annual rise of 2.7 percent.

The trade surplus was MYR 12.6 billion in February, which was above economists' expectation of MYR 10.8 billion.

On a monthly basis, exports declined by a seasonally adjusted 0.1 percent in February and imports fell 2.0 percent.
