Taiwan's unemployment rate increased for the third straight month in April, figures from the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics showed on Friday.

The non-adjusted unemployment rate rose to 4.03 percent in April from 3.72 percent in March.

In the same month last year, the jobless rate was 3.67 percent.

The number of unemployed increased to 481,000 in April from 445,000 in the previous month.

Employment decreased by 46,000 persons monthly to 11.467 million in April.

Jobs were shed in agriculture and manufacturing sectors, while employment increased in services sector.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate rose to 4.10 percent in April from 3.76 percent in the previous month. In the same month last year, unemployment rate was 3.74 percent.
