The Conference Board is due to release its report on consumer confidence for September at 10:00 am ET Tuesday.
Ahead of the data, the greenback strengthened against its major rivals.
The greenback was worth 111.58 against the yen, 1.1677 against the euro, 1.3536 against the pound and 0.9298 against the franc as of 9:55 am ET.
