Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. is a transnational pharmaceutical corporation with a rich history. It was established in 1901 in Jerusalem, Israel. Originally, it was just a small pharmaceuticals distributor. Later on, in the 1930s, migrants from Europe founded a chain of pharmaceutical companies, including Zori and Teva.

In 1951 the company’s shares appeared on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. In 1964 Zori merged with Assia. In 1976 Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. was created.

The corporation specializes in production of generic drugs, active pharmaceutical ingredients, and proprietary drugs. Teva is the world’s sixteenth largest pharmaceutical company. It owns 66 factories in 60 countries around the globe.

The company’s shares are traded on the NYSE. In 2016 its turnover was estimated at $21.9 billion while the operating income was $2.15 billion. Furthermore, last year Teva obtained the net profit of $329 million.
