In a recent press release, Roche announced its partnership with PathAI, aiming to bolster its digital pathology capabilities for companion diagnostics. This alliance leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) interpretation and companion diagnostics, improving patient accessibility to targeted treatments, hence progressing precision medicine.

The partnership stipulates that PathAI will collaborate solely with Roche Tissue Diagnostics to create AI-driven digital pathology algorithms specifically for the companion diagnostics sphere.

As per agreement terms, Roche Tissue Diagnostics exclusively joins forces with PathAI in a predefined tenure, acting as the sole external algorithm development firm for AI-boosted companion diagnostics. Nonetheless, Roche reserves the rights to continue developing its algorithms for companion diagnostics independently. Similarly, PathAI maintains its rights to create algorithms outside the segment of companion diagnostics.

The agreement will see the implementation of newly developed algorithms using Roche's Digital Pathology solution.

In a previous collaboration in October 2021, both businesses collectively designed an embedded image analysis workflow exclusively for pathologists. This workflow enables access to PathAI image analysis algorithms within Roche's navify Digital Pathology software platform.
