Wholesale prices in Pakistan experienced a further decline of 1.0% year-on-year in August 2025, compared to a 0.49% decrease in the preceding month. This trend was primarily influenced by heightened deflation in sectors such as agriculture, forestry, and fishing, which dropped by 3.88% compared to 1.60% in July, and in minerals, electricity, gas, and water, which saw a decline of 6.06%, intensifying from 3.41% previously. Nonetheless, these downward movements were partially mitigated by an acceleration in price increases in categories such as food, beverages, tobacco, textiles, and leather products, which rose by 4.94% from 4.37%, and in metal products, machinery, and equipment, which grew by 1.21% from 0.48%. Additionally, there was a slower reduction in the prices of other transportable goods, which fell by 2.71% compared to July's 3.40% decline. On a month-to-month basis, wholesale prices decreased by 0.21% in August, after having risen by 1.19% in July.
