The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, which monitors shipping rates for vessels carrying dry commodities, reversed its two-day decline on Tuesday, rising by approximately 0.7% to reach 1,958 points. This increase was primarily driven by the performance of the larger vessel segment. The capesize index, responsible for transporting large cargoes of about 150,000 tons such as iron ore and coal, ended its two-day downward trend, advancing by 2% to 2,947 points. Conversely, the panamax index, which generally hauls between 60,000 and 70,000 tons of coal or grain, experienced a 0.7% drop to 1,788 points, marking its seventh consecutive session of declines. The smaller supramax index also decreased by 0.7%, settling at 1,311 points.
