As of October 2025, Malaysia's unemployment rate remained unchanged for the sixth consecutive month, holding at 3.0%. This figure represents the country's lowest unemployment rate since April 2015. The number of unemployed individuals saw a slight month-on-month increase of 0.1%, reaching 518,900. Among the unemployed, 64.5% had been out of work for less than three months, while 5% had been jobless for more than a year. Employment rose by 0.2% to 17.06 million, with notable gains in the services sector, and subsequent growth in agriculture, manufacturing, and construction. The labor force expanded by 0.2% from the previous month, totaling 17.58 million, which kept the participation rate stable at 70.9%. Concurrently, the number of individuals not participating in the labor force rose slightly from 7.21 million to 7.22 million. Of this group, 43.6% cited housework or family responsibilities as their reason for non-participation, while 40.7% attributed it to schooling and training commitments.
