Consumer prices in Palestine rose 11.61% year-on-year in February 2026, reversing a 14.4% decline recorded in January. This was the first annual increase since September, largely driven by a 31.32% surge in prices in the Gaza Strip, alongside more moderate rises of 2.84% in Jerusalem and 1.71% in the West Bank.
Among key categories, prices climbed sharply for imported cigarettes (up 161.75%), fresh chicken (9.51%), eggs (7.59%), fresh meat (4.13%), and rice (4.01%), underscoring persistent market instability in Gaza.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index jumped 12.02% in February, primarily reflecting a 37.92% increase in Gaza. In comparison, prices edged up 0.39% in Jerusalem and 0.02% in the West Bank.
