Romania’s industrial production showed signs of stabilisation in February 2026, with the year-over-year decline easing to -1.5% from a sharper -3.8% drop in January, according to data updated on 15 April 2026. While output remains below last year’s levels, the figures suggest that the sector’s contraction is losing momentum.
Both readings are based on annual comparisons, measuring each month’s performance against the same month a year earlier. January’s -3.8% marked a steeper setback for the industry, but February’s improvement points to a potential bottoming-out phase in Romania’s industrial cycle.
The moderation in the pace of decline will be closely watched by analysts and policymakers as an early indication of whether industrial activity could begin to stabilise or recover in the coming months, after a weak start to 2026.
