India’s BSE Sensex climbed about 0.4% to 78,420 on Thursday, extending gains for a second straight session as optimism over a potential US–Iran peace deal pushed oil prices lower and improved risk sentiment. US President Donald Trump said Israel and Lebanon would hold talks later in the day, signaling a further easing of Middle East tensions. At the same time, crude prices fell below $95 following reports that Iran may allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, helping offset worries about ongoing supply disruptions.
On the corporate front, investors are focused on quarterly results from Wipro and HDFC Life Insurance, both set to report their January–March earnings today. Among individual movers, Gallantt Ispat (+7.5%), Infosys (+1.3%), Gujarat Mineral (+9.3%), and HDB Financial (+8.1%) advanced, while MTAR Tech (-2%), Astral (-2.9%), and Tejas Networks (-4.1%) declined. The benchmark index is up 1.3% so far this week and is on course for a second consecutive weekly gain after six straight weeks of losses.
