Thailand’s private consumption continued to decline in March 2026, but at a noticeably slower pace, suggesting early signs of stabilization in household spending. Month-over-month, private consumption registered a -0.8% change in March, an improvement from February 2026, when the indicator fell by -1.8%.
The data, updated on 30 April 2026, show that while consumption remains in negative territory, the moderation in the rate of decline could indicate that the worst of the recent pullback in spending may be easing. On a month-over-month basis, the March figure reflects a smaller contraction compared with February’s sharper drop versus the preceding month.
Market watchers will be looking to upcoming releases to determine whether March’s softer decline marks the start of a more sustained recovery in domestic demand, or merely a temporary pause in a broader weakening trend in Thai private consumption.
