Luxembourg’s annual inflation rate eased to 2.3% in May 2026, down from 3.1% in April. Price growth moderated for several categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.0% vs 2.4%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2.5% vs 3.2%), housing and utilities (3.3% vs 4.4%), health (0.7% vs 1.8%), transportation (5.9% vs 6.3%), and restaurants and hotels (2.9% vs 3.3%).
Prices for furniture and household equipment turned negative, declining 0.4% after a 1.0% increase previously, while inflation for clothing and footwear was flat following a 0.2% rise in April. In contrast, price growth strengthened in information and communication (1.6% vs -0.1%) and recreation and culture (3.1% vs 2.5%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.2% in May, reversing a 1.2% increase in April and marking the first month-on-month decline since January.
