The Baltic Exchange’s main dry bulk freight index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry bulk commodities, fell for a fourth consecutive session on Thursday, declining about 1.6% to 2,591 points—its lowest level since April 17.

The capesize index, covering ships that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, dropped 3.1% to 3,827 points, while the supramax index slipped 0.9% to 1,678 points, its lowest level since June 15.

In contrast, the panamax index, which reflects rates for vessels that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose 1.2% to 2,096 points.
