European equity markets were poised to open flat to slightly lower on Monday as investors adopted a cautious stance ahead of a busy week. Market participants will be closely watching Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s first speech at the Jackson Hole symposium, as well as a slate of key US economic data, for guidance on the inflation and interest-rate outlook.
Treasury yields edged lower in tandem with oil prices, with Brent crude retreating toward $93 a barrel. Investors are awaiting details of Bessent’s fiscal consolidation plans and his proposed economic measures against Iran, which he has described as the “single greatest financial offensive ever.”
In corporate news, Nvidia’s upcoming earnings report will be a focal point for assessing whether the current wave of AI-related capital spending is sustainable. In premarket trading, Euro Stoxx 50 futures slipped 0.1%, while Stoxx 600 futures were little changed.
