Bitcoin continues its rise on the ongoing convention on virtual currencies in New York and an increase in weekend interest from Asian investors.

Consensus, a digital currency conference hosted by CoinDesk.com, is anticipated to draw over 2,000 attendees to New York. Also, two other gatherings on cryptocurrencies are being held in the state this month.

Data showed bitcoin prices shortly jumped over 11%, surging past $2,100 and $2,200 to touch its all-time peak of $2,289.21. It last traded close to $2,236, almost doubling its value for May.

The total bitcoin trade volume in US dollars accounted for over 32% in bitcoin trading, up from 26% last week. Trade volume in the yuan and the yen moderated to 16.95% and 34.2%, respectively.

As of writing, bitcoin's market value increased to more than $37 billion as several billion in the greenback have flowed into the digital currency last week.
