Destatis is slated to release Germany's retail sales data for August in the pre-European session on Friday at 2:00 am ET. Sales are forecast to grow 3.2 percent annually, following a 2.7 percent rise in July. Ahead of the data, the euro held steady against its major rivals.
As of 1:55 am ET, the euro was trading at 0.8778 against the pound, 1.1440 against the Swiss franc, 1.1774 against the U.S. dollar and 132.62 against the yen.
