The Labor Department's Durable Goods Orders for July will be published at 8.30 am ET Friday. The consensus is for a decline of 0.8 percent, compared to growth of 1.0 percent in the prior month.
Ahead of the data, the greenback dropped against its major rivals.
The greenback was worth 1.1591 against the euro, 1.2848 against the pound, 111.28 against the yen and 0.9835 against the franc as of 8:25 am ET.
