Taiwan's unemployment rate rose marginally to the highest level in eleven months in April, the Directorate General of Budget Accounting & Statistics, or DGBAS, said on Wednesday.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate rose marginally to 3.73 percent in April from 3.72 percent in March. Economists had expected a 3.7 percent rate.

On an unadjusted basis, the unemployment rate eased to 3.67 percent in April from 3.68 percent in the previous month.

The number of unemployed persons on an unadjusted basis, fell to 437,000 in April from 438,000 in March. The employed totaled 11.48 million versus 11.478 million in the prior month.

Data also showed that the labor force participation rate was 59.06 percent in April, which was same as seen in the preceding month.
