As expected, the European Central Bank retained its main refi rate at a record low of zero percent and the deposit rate at -0.40 percent. The euro advanced against its major counterparts following the announcement.
The euro was trading at 120.55 against the yen, 1.0988 against the franc, 0.8919 against the pound and 1.1148 against the greenback around 7:47 am ET.
