Norway's retail sales fell in December after rising in the preceding month, figures from Statistics Norway showed on Thursday.

Retail sales fell 2.0 percent month-on-month in December, after a 1.0 percent rise in November. In October, sales decreased 1.0 percent.

The latest decline was driven by a slump in sales of ICT equipment and other household devices.

Excluding motor vehicles and gas stations, retail sales decreased 2.1 percent monthly in December, after a 1.0 percent increase in the preceding month.

On a year-on-year basis, retail sales fell 0.7 percent in December, reversing a 0.7 percent gain in the prior month. In October, sales decreased 0.3 percent.
