South Korea's confidence among manufacturers weakened for the fourth straight month in May, and sentiment among non-manufacturers improved, survey data from Bank of Korea showed on Wednesday.

In the manufacturing sector, the business survey index on business conditions decreased to 49 in May from 52 in April. The outlook index fell one point to 49.

In the non-manufacturing sector, the business survey index on business conditions increased to 56 in May from 50 in the previous month and the outlook rose six points to 56.

The economic sentiment index rose to 57.8 in May from 55.7 in the prior month.

The survey was conducted among 3,696 companies between May 12 and 19.
