At 5.00 am ET Friday, Eurostat publishes euro area flash consumer price data for May. Inflation is forecast to ease to 0.1 percent from 0.3 percent in April.
The euro rose against its major counterparts before the data.
The euro was worth 1.1114 against the greenback, 0.9035 against the pound, 119.24 against the yen and 1.0695 against the franc as of 4:55 am ET.
