The dollar rose to a six-month high, as investors maintained their bets that President-elect Donald Trump's administration will launch expansionary fiscal policies and bolster growth. The dollar climbed to 111.125 against the Japanese yen, its highest since May 31.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission data has shown that speculators cut their bets in the week through Nov. 15, with profit taking reduced net long positions following its advance in seven-consecutive weeks. Net long positions on the Japanese yen recorded their lowest level since early June, as it is considered a casualty of the dollar's rally. The yield on U.S. benchmark 10-year Treasury notes climbed to a one-year peak of 2.364 percent on Friday. The dollar index inched up 0.1 percent to 101.34.
The euro rose 0.1 percent to $1.0598 but continued to be not far above Friday's 11-month low of $1.0569.
