The United States is awaited to become an energy exporter by 2026, with the Energy Information Administration attributing its forecast to declining petroleum product imports and escalating natural gas exports.
Since 1953, America has been a net energy importer. But the federal agency, in its report, emphasized increasing exports and dropping imports that began over the previous year will change the path over the following decade.
The US government repealed a ban on US crude exports in 2015, while natural gas exports from the Lower 48 started last year.
Also, the EIA expected the total energy consumption will possibly surge by 5% from 2016 to 2040 in the reference case.
