Hungary's trade surplus widened in the January to May period from the previous year.
The trade surplus totaled EUR 2.245 billion in the January to May period, up from EUR 1.40 billion surplus a year ago, a final report by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office showed on Friday. The trade balance was unrevised from the preliminary estimate published on July 9.
Exports value increased 19% annually to EUR 27.54 billion in the January to May period, while imports value rose 16% to EUR 25.29 billion. During the period, the volume of exports and imports increased by 17% and 15%, respectively compared to the same period of the previous year.
In May, the trade surplus narrowed to EUR 423.6 million from EUR 504.7 million in the previous month. The latest trade balance was revised from EUR 428.8 million surplus reported initially.
