German insolvency courts reported 12,800 insolvencies in January, which was 1.7 percent less than in January last year, the Federal Statistical Office said Monday.
The total number of corporate insolvencies fell 9.5 percent year-on-year to 2,304, while insolvencies of consumers rose 2.3%.
The estimated outstanding claims of creditors amounted to EUR 2.1 billion during the month. This was less than last year's EUR 3.1 billion.
