Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy intends to send a proposition to President Michel Temer this month, aimed to change the country's biofuels legislation.

The minister Fernando Coelho Filho said that the government is making progress in this area and added that the proposed reform of the electric sector regulatory framework should be presented in September. Changes in the gas sector legislation are also in the ministry's plans for September.

"There are many actions taking place in this area, such as the divestments in Petrobras and in state distribution companies and new contributions that will happen in the sector."

The minister recalled that the contract for the Bolivian natural gas supply would be renewed in 2019. According to Coelho Filho, the gas costs are cheapening due to the growing production in the pre-salt layer.
