At 2.00 am ET Friday, Destatis is scheduled to issue Germany's retail sales and import prices for May. Sales are forecast to drop 0.5 percent on month in May, in contrast to April's 1.6 percent increase.
Ahead of the data, the euro held steady against its major counterparts.
The euro was worth 128.91 against the yen, 0.8881 against the pound, 1.1648 against the greenback and 1.1580 against the franc as of 1:55 am ET.
