At 4.30 am ET Friday, UK CIPS/Markit services PMI is due. Economists forecast the index to drop to 54.7 in July from 55.1 in June.
Ahead of the data, the pound fell against its major rivals.
The pound was worth 145.15 against the yen, 1.2938 against the franc, 0.8909 against the euro and 1.2992 against the greenback as of 4:25 am ET.
