Turkey's industrial production grew at a faster pace in July largely driven by mining and quarrying, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute showed Monday.
Industrial production advanced 5.6 percent year-on-year, following a 2.8 percent rise in June. Economists had forecast a slower growth of 1.2 percent for July.
Among components of production, mining and quarrying logged the biggest growth of 8.5 percent, followed by a 5.6 percent rise in manufacturing. Meanwhile, electricity, gas, steam output grew only 3 percent.
Month-on-month, industrial production advanced 3.5 percent in July, in contrast to a 2.1 percent drop in June. This was the first increase in three months.
