At 4:30 am ET Wednesday, UK mortgage approvals data is due from UK Finance. The number of approvals is seen at 39,700 in August versus 39,584 in July.
Ahead of the data, the pound dropped against its major rivals.
The pound was worth 1.3158 against the greenback, 0.8943 against the euro, 1.2699 against the franc and 148.48 against the yen as of 4:25 am ET.
