South Africa's producer prices rose at the fastest rate in five months in April, figures from Statistics South Africa showed Thursday.
The producer price index rose 6.5 percent year-on-year in April, following a 6.2 percent increase in March.
The latest inflation was the highest since November last year, when it was 6.8 percent.
The overall inflation was driven by coke, petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products, food products, beverages and tobacco products and metals, machinery, equipment and computing equipment.
On a month-on-month basis, producer prices rose 1.3 percent in April.
