In July 2025, Uruguay's unemployment rate fell to 6.9%, down from 8.3% the previous year, achieving its lowest point since December 2017. Nationally, the activity rate reached 64.2%, with an employment rate of 59.8%. Analyzing by gender, unemployment was at 5.4% for men and 8.6% for women. Examining age-related trends, the highest unemployment was seen among the 14–24-year-olds at 23.4%, whereas those aged 65 and above experienced the lowest rate at 2.5%. In terms of employment conditions, 9.1% of workers were underemployed, and 22.4% did not have social security registration for their primary job.
